Capital Campaign

Oakhurst Presbyterian has just completed the last phase of a capital campaign, in which we installed air-conditioning in the sanctuary and fellowship hall, installed an elevator so that the sanctuary is now handicapped accessible, and added accessible restrooms on two levels of the church. According to a story in an Atlanta newspaper, "Attendance used to drop 15 percent in the summer," says the Rev. Nibs Stroupe, "but since we got air conditioning in the church, attendance is down only 10 percent." - Atlanta Journal-Constitution, July 25, 2007.

The church stepped out in faith in May, 2006 and obtained a $200,000 loan from the Presbyterian Church USA to pay for the renovations. Thanks to the great generosity of our church family, we’re proud to say that we repaid that loan in full at the end of May, 2009 through pledges made by the congregation. While we’re going to take a break for awhile before we start another capital campaign, Oakhurst Presbyterian Church is a wonderful 85 year old building – and all things 85 years old will always need some work! Contributions to the Building Fund are always welcome.
